Atletico’s interest in Barcelona’s departing star ends

Barcelona midfielder Marc Casadó appears to be close to leaving the club this summer, with the likelihood of him continuing his career outside of Spanish football high.
However, one of the few clubs that could make his transfer happen has decided to withdraw from the race.
The 22-year-old was one of the best stories of last season at Barcelona, going from a safe departure to a starter during the first half of the season.
Under Hansi Flick, he was among the best performers, but this season there has been less space, with Marc Bernal, Frenkie de Jong and Gavin ahead of him in the hierarchy.
For this reason, it is expected that he will seek more playing minutes through a transfer.
Last season, Casadó was linked with a move to Atletico Madrid both in January and in the summer, as the Madrid side were looking for a central midfielder.
At the time, the player was not ready to leave and the transfer did not go through.
According to reports, Los Rojiblancos are no longer interested in him this summer, which also rules out the possibility of Barcelona using him as part of a deal to transfer Julián Álvarez.
Meanwhile, former Barcelona sporting director Mateu Alemany has taken a leadership role at Atletico during this period and it appears that the main target for the midfield is Atalanta player Ederson dos Santos.
Atletico have even begun negotiations with the Italian club to transfer him, attempting to beat off competition from Premier League clubs, but so far no agreement has been reached.
